EVOH film

As a producer of printed flexible packaging we use EVOH in multi-layer structures where it earns its place — when the oxygen barrier makes a real difference, not just a line on the spec sheet.

What EVOH adds to a pack

EVOH provides a high oxygen barrier — decisive for products that lose flavour, aroma or quality on contact with oxygen. In many applications it extends shelf life and keeps batch quality consistent for the end customer. EVOH is almost always one layer within the structure, so it only works when the other layers are matched for sealing, strength and storage conditions.

Where EVOH structures fit best

You will find EVOH wherever oxygen protection and long-term quality matter: food, pet food, aromatic dry blends and selected technical products. If a product is stored, shipped or sold across many channels for a long time, the oxygen barrier is often a key parameter. In practice EVOH is combined with layers that carry the seal and mechanical strength.

EVOH and moisture — why the structure matters

For barrier applications we always look at the whole structure, because the pack has to protect the product in real conditions. High-humidity storage has to be designed in. We never pick EVOH by default — we select the structure to the product, the conditions and the packing process, so it keeps its parameters in the warehouse and in transit, not only on the spec sheet.

EVOH and automatic packing

On an automatic line repeatability is everything. The pack has to run stably and the seal has to be predictable within your process window. As a barrier layer EVOH must not degrade line performance, so we design the structure to keep good sealing and stable parameters batch after batch. When you introduce a new material, samples and a trial on your machine are the simplest way to avoid losses on a large run.

Do I have to switch to mono without EVOH?

No — we offer both, and the choice is yours. Traditional EVOH structures give the maximum oxygen barrier for the most sensitive products; mono-material MarEco without EVOH is the eco option, recyclable in a single stream and PPWR-ready, designed for buyers with the highest environmental expectations. The right answer depends on the product — we will help you match the structure to your case.

Frequently asked questions

EVOH film is a barrier layer used where high protection against oxygen ingress is needed, helping keep products fresh and consistent over time.

It is usually one layer in a multi-layer structure; the other layers carry sealing and mechanical strength.

It is used mainly for oxygen-sensitive products where shelf life and aroma retention matter — food, pet food and selected technical products.

Yes, provided the whole structure is matched to your machine; guidance, the sealing window and batch repeatability are key.

To quote we need the format and dimensions, quantity, product type, storage conditions and packing method (manual or automatic).
